Composite Ad
This was my composite ad made with photos that I took myself. My ad is for a DVD store. I chose to make an ad for this as I have a large collection of DVDs and thought that it would be interesting to incorporate them into this assignment. The first thing I did to create my ad was use the magic wand tool on all of my photos, to get only the sections of the photo that I wanted. Next, I put all those photos onto a white background. I filled the background next, and to do that I used the brush tool. I chose a smoke effect brush that I had previously downloaded, then chose a vibrant, blue colour, and used the brush to fill in the background. I think that using the smoke brush made a positive difference in how the background looks. After that, I arranged all the photos where I wanted them to be in the ad. I added some layer styles to them too. I put a stroke, inner glow, and drop shadow onto the photos on the left side of the ad, and for the DVDs that are to the right, I just simply added a drop shadow. For the remote, I placed it so that it was pointing towards the DVDs. The green "open" in the bottom corner is the word that was displayed on my DVD player when the disc drive was open, and I thought it would be interesting to use that as a way to say that the store in my ad was "open." I would have liked to include a opening time in that same style, but I didn't have time to get to that. Finally, for my text, I decided to name my store "DVD Mobile" and have it be a truck that sells DVDs. It is a crazy idea, but I chose the name so that I could include the word "mobile" in the name, so I could remove the "o" and put a disc in its place. I thought that would be a cool idea, considering that my ad is centered around DVDs. To edit the disc I simply added a stroke. I flattened my image, then exported to a JPEG. I am really happy with this assignment, as I think the colours are very bright and vibrant and that all the elements are placed well within the image. It is a composite ad as all the photos taken are my own, and they are used to make one complete ad. The only improvements I would make is to edit the remote and "OPEN" as they do not stand out as much as they could.
