Woman

AFTER

This is my first time doing skin edits on Adobe Lightroom. I started with the original stock image, and our task was to improve this woman's appearance. To do that, I first adjusted my white balance to get rid of the yellow tint that seemed to span across the picture. Next, I used some tools I had never used before, like the heal tool, burning, and masking. I used the healing tool to get rid of any blemishes on the skin, to clear it up. I then used a masking tool, under the setting of "soften skin" to make her skin appear less uneven in colour. After that, I wanted to enhance the iris of her eye, and I did that with the dodge tool, under the setting of "iris enhance." This made her blue eyes brighter. Finally, I had to make her eyelashes darker, and more prominent in the image, so I used the burn tool to draw over them, and then I used sliders to make them darker. I think I did a very good job on this skin edit, as the original looks nothing like the edited version. The only thing I would change is that the woman's nose looks a bit oily from how I smoothened the skin, but I could try to fix that the next time I do a skin edit. Nonetheless, I am very impressed with this work.

Man

AFTER

When it came to editing this man, it was a lot easier than the woman above in my opinion, as this photo only had a couple edits while the previous one had many. To edit this person, I first adjusted the white balance and basic options to get rid of the orange-yellow "filter" that covered the photo. Next, I zoomed in close to his eyes, and used the "smoothen skin" mask brush to smooth out the wrinkle lines around his eyes. I moved on to the "teeth whitening" brush, where I painted over his teeth to brighten them from their yellow discolouration. This is probably the most notable change. My final edit was to lighten the red patches under his eyes and near his cheeks, which I did by using the dodge tool, to make the red areas blend in with his skin tone. For fun, I also used the colour brush on his irides and turned them from a darker green to a lighter green. I am happy with my work here and I think I improved from the previous skin edit, as this photo appears to be more smoothly edited than the last.
